Common issues with dues assignments and payments.
  • Assignment exists: Confirm the assignment was not cancelled or deleted. If it was, create a new assignment and share the new pay link.
  • Already paid: If the member already paid, the link may show “already paid” or redirect to success. Check the Dues list; if status is paid, no further action is needed.
  • URL: Ensure you copied the full link (e.g. https://rowhouse.co/dues/[id]/pay). Missing protocol or truncated URL can cause errors. Have the member try again in a different browser or device.
  • Stripe: Payments require Stripe Connect to be complete. If Connect is incomplete, pay links may fail. Complete onboarding and try again.

Payment not reflecting (still shows unpaid)

  • Wait: After the member pays, status can take a few seconds to update. Refresh the Dues list or open the assignment again.
  • Webhook: Rowhouse updates status when Stripe sends a successful payment webhook. If Stripe had an outage or the webhook failed, status might be delayed. Check FinanceTransactions to see if the payment appears there; if it does, the assignment may sync later or support can fix the status.
  • Wrong assignment: Confirm the member used the link for this assignment. If they paid a different assignment or an event, that payment will not mark this dues assignment as paid.

Duplicate charges

  • Member paid twice: If the member clicked Pay twice or used the link twice, they might have been charged twice. Check Transactions for two payments for the same amount and same member around the same time. Refunds must be done in Stripe (or your process); then you can waive or cancel one of the assignments so records match.
  • Duplicate assignments: If you accidentally created two assignments for the same member and same dues, waive or cancel one and share only one pay link going forward.

Member cannot pay (card declined, error)

  • Card: The member should try a different card or contact their bank. Rowhouse does not control card declines.
  • Amount: Ensure the amount is correct and in the expected currency. Very small or zero amounts may be rejected by Stripe.
  • Browser: Try another browser or device; clear cache and disable extensions that might block Stripe.

Plan and access

  • Dues section locked: Finance/Dues may require a paid plan. See Subscription and Plan limits. Upgrade to unlock.
  • No pay link: Only admins (or users with permission) can see and copy pay links. If you are a member, ask an admin to send you the link.
