# Create groups

> Create, edit, and delete groups

Create groups to organize your members (e.g. Board, Class of 2026) and use them for emails and events.

## Create a group

1. Go to **Groups** in the sidebar.
2. Click **Create group** (or **Add group**).
3. Enter:
   * **Name**: e.g. "Board", "Class of 2026" (required).
   * **Description**: optional short description.
   * **Color**: optional; used in the UI to distinguish groups.
4. Save. The group appears in the list and can be used when [assigning members](/groups/assign-members), [sending emails](/groups/using-groups-in-emails), or [inviting to events](/groups/using-groups-for-events).

<Tip>
  Use clear, consistent names so everyone knows what the group is for (e.g. "2025-2026 Board" instead of "Board" if you have multiple years).
</Tip>

## Edit a group

1. Go to **Groups** and click the group (or **Edit**).
2. Change **name**, **description**, or **color**.
3. Save. Member assignments are unchanged; only the group metadata updates.

## Delete a group

1. Go to **Groups** and open the group.
2. Find **Delete group** (often in a menu or at the bottom).
3. Confirm. The group is removed. **Members are not removed from the organization**; they simply no longer belong to this group. Any past emails or event invites sent to the group are unchanged in history.

<Warning>
  Deleting a group cannot be undone. If you might need it again, consider leaving it and removing members instead, or renaming it (e.g. "Board - Archive").
</Warning>

## Next steps

* [Assign members](/groups/assign-members) to the group.
* [Send emails to the group](/groups/using-groups-in-emails) or [use the group for event invitees](/groups/using-groups-for-events).
