# Assigning dues

> Assign dues to members with amount, due date, and optional group

Assign dues to one or more members so they owe an amount and can pay via their [pay link](/dues/pay-link).

## Assign dues

1. Go to **Finance** → **Dues** and click **Assign dues** (or **New assignment**).
2. **Select members**: Choose one or more members (or a [group](/groups/overview) if the UI supports it).
3. **Amount**: Enter the amount (e.g. 50 for \$50). Amount is usually in dollars; the app may store in cents internally.
4. **Description** (optional): e.g. "Fall 2025 dues" or "Event fee".
5. **Due date** (optional): When the dues are due. Used for display and overdue reminders (if enabled).
6. **Dues group / option** (optional): If you use [dues groups](/dues/dues-groups), select a group and optionally an option (tier). The amount can be set from the option or overridden.
7. Submit. Assignments are created; each member gets a unique [pay link](/dues/pay-link).

<Tip>
  For many members at once, select multiple members in one go or use a group. You can assign the same amount and description to all of them.
</Tip>

## After assigning

* Each assignment appears in the Dues list with status **unpaid** until the member pays. Share the **pay link** with each member (by email or copy link).
* You can [waive](/dues/waiving-and-cancelling) or cancel an assignment if needed. You can also [edit due date](/dues/due-dates) or description on the assignment if the UI allows.

## Amount and currency

* Amount is typically in **dollars** (e.g. 50 = \$50). Currency is usually USD unless your org uses another. Processing fees may apply; see [Processing fees](/finance/processing-fees).
